Following the success of the Douglas King Award for Journalism the Guild is delighted to announce the launch of a new award, specifically for video.
Hitherto videos had been accepted for the Douglas King award but it's fair to say the judges had a difficult time appraising video entries against the written word.
It became clear that this increasingly important sector of journalism should have its own award.
The untimely death of long standing Guild member John Wickersham last year provided the perfect opportunity to formalise such an award and to give it a worthy name. In recent years John had become prolific with video work for the Caravan Channel and others.
The winner will be the journalist who, in the opinion of an independent panel of judges, produces the best video on any subject relating to the caravan industry. This includes but is not limited to:
• Product tests and reviews
• Caravan and motorhome touring
• The holiday home and park home sector
• Technical subjects
There is a maximum of one entry per journalist. Submissions should be made to the Guild's Secretary (email@example.com) no later than 31st August 2017. To qualify for entry videos must have been published in the public domain during the period 1st August 2016 to 31st July 2017.
The award is open to individual journalists irrespective of age, discipline or Guild membership and takes the form of a small trophy plus a cash amount of £1000. It will be presented at the Guild's industry dinner in October which coincides with the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC. The judges will be looking for the entry that delivers the most engaging and interesting experience for the viewer
|The Guild is delighted to announce that Vantage Insurance Ltd. has offered to be co-sponsor for the award. Group Marketing Manager Stuart Craig said "Vantage Insurance Services Limited is delighted to be supporting The Caravan Writers' Guild in the creation of this new award. It is entirely fitting that such a great personality as John Wickersham should continue to be an inspiration to those producing video work for the industry that supports us. Sponsoring this award is our way of giving something back to that industry".
Entries should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
