The Douglas King Award - changes for 2017

The Guild's decision to introduce an award specifically for video work means that from now on the Douglas King Award for Journalism will be just for the written word.

This will make it easier for the judges to assess the entries against each other whilst giving videographers a better chance to be recognised.

In other respects the award continues unchanged.

The award will be made to the journalist who, in the opinion of an independent panel of judges, produces the best article published on any subject relating to the caravan industry. This includes but is not limited to:

  • General articles and reviews
  • Caravan and motorhome touring
  • The holiday home and park home sector
  • Technical articles

The article must have been published within the 12 month time period ending on 31st July 2017. Submissions should be made to the Guild's Secretary (details below) no later than 31st August 2017.

The award is open to individual journalists irrespective of age, discipline or Guild membership. The published media may include magazines, newspapers, websites, TV and radio. There is a maximum of one entry per journalist.

The award takes the form of a small trophy and a cash amount of £1000. It will be presented at the Guild's industry dinner in October which coincides with the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC.

The judges will be looking for the entry that delivers the most engaging and interesting experience for the reader.
The Guild is delighted that Vantage Insurance will once again act as co-sponsor for this prestigious award.

Entries should be sent to secretary@caravanwritersguild.org.uk
